The City of Guymon 2015 water quality reports are out

Community Water Systems (CWS) are required to prepare and distribute an annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), also known as annual water quality reports or drinking water quality reports. A CWS is a public water system that serves at least 25 residents year round or that has 15 service connections serving year round residents.

The City of Guymon CCR water quality reports were distributed by ordinary mail to customers and consumers. The annual report summarizes important information regarding
sources of the drinking water, detected contaminants, compliance and educational information. The CCR data must be delivered to customers and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental by July 1 of each year.

An electronic version of the current CCR report can be viewed and printed by clicking on the link at left (or below, if you are on a mobile device). Previous CCRs are located at the right, or again below if you are on a mobile.

The City of Guymon Gas and Water department would also like to remind resident to participate in lead and copper in drinking water testing. Details can be found on the City of Guymon website, or by calling 508-338-3396.

Water Quality - Lead & Copper in Drinking Water

Testing for Lead and Copper in Drinking water is the only testing that EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and ODEQ (Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality) ask the homeowner to collect the sample in the home.

Due to the new water sources in our water system, EPA  and ODEQ is requiring the City of Guymon to comply with the new monitoring schedule for Lead and Copper in Drinking Water, rule Ref. #40 C.F.R. 141.86 (d)(4)(vii). These requirements began in 2011 and will continue until notification from the ODEQ. We are being required to submit 60 samples twice a year (Jan.-June & July-Dec.).

EPA has a process of evaluation for a designated test site. The evaluation consists of area maps, municipal water line materials, home owner water supply line materials and water treatment processes inside of a home, (if any).

The evaluation is free of charge, and if your home qualifies, the testing is free of charge. We just ask for a few minutes of your time to fill the sample container and complete the accompanying form, then set them outside your door for us to pick up. You will receive a copy of the results of each analysis. With your cooperation and participation, you can help ensure a quality water supply for your family and the community.

If you would like your home to be evaluated, and become a part of our sampling team, contact us at 580-338-3396. Ask for Tracy A. Bowers, Gas/Water Supervisor or J. David Moore, Water Operator.
