Code Enforcement
Responsibilities:
The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for inspecting and enforcing health and safety codes outlined in the City Code of Ordinances, which includes the sign ordinances as well as enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, and the 2009 International Property Maintenance Code. The Code Enforcement Officer responds to complaints and determines if a code violation exists. If a violation exists, the responsible party is contacted and given a specific time frame to correct the violation. If the responsible party fails to correct the violation, the City can abate the violation and/or assess penalties as defined by the specific code.
Penalties for not complying include, but are not limited to, Municipal Court Charges, Fines, and Liens against the Property if abatement fees are not paid.

Courtesy Notice
We frequently post COURTESY NOTICES on properties, they are meant as a neighborly request for the violations checked on the card to be removed.  It is NOT a citation.

An example of a COURTESY NOTICE is shown "here”.
