[ARCHIVED] City Honors Jimmie Draper's Memory, Legacy

The City of Guymon wishes to convey our deepest sympathy regarding the passing of longtime Guymon resident, Mr. Jimmie Draper, 82.
In addition to his many community contributions he served the City of Guymon on the very first Economic Development Board and on the Arts and Humanities Commission from 2005 through 2014 hosting their annual symposiums at his beloved Draper Headquarters. He also assisted the City by hosting leaders from across the state each year.
Draper was a model of great character, earning him the Citizen of the Year award in 2007.
In January of 2014 Mayor Peterson issued a Citation of Recognition to Draper for ‘Dedicated Service to the Community’ and it was presented at his 80thbirthday party.
Draper will continue to be held in high regard by all those who worked or volunteered alongside him.

Other sympathy and recognition this week:

-State Secretary of Agriculture released the following statement: “Oklahoma agriculture, conservation, and the Panhandle have lost a great advocate and leader in Jimmie Draper. Jimmie was a kind and generous man who would host just about any group any time on his family farm near Guymon. We extend our sympathies to his family, while sharing with them that he will be greatly missed by the rest of us as well.”

– Governor Mary Fallin released the following statement: “Jim Draper was a leader in agriculture and conservation in the Panhandle. He cared deeply about his state and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of agriculture with others. My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends during this time of loss.”
