[ARCHIVED] Krone Presents American Flag to Summer Reading Class

Guymon City Councilman and Veteran Chet Krone met with the Extended Summer Reading class held at the Guymon Public Library and Arts Center Thursday, July 30, 2016.
The program is taught by Claudia Patterson assisted by Laura Brandherm and the Guymon High School Honor Society students.
Krone, who is a member of the American Legion Post 31, was attending as a guest to present the Pre-K and T-1 children with an American flag for their daily Pledge of Allegiance.
The American Legion has a fund set aside to provide flags for such purposes in addition to honoring Veterans on Memorial Day.
Before the presentation Patterson had the kids share with Krone what they have learned about the stars on the flag and that they represent the 50 states of America. They additionally identified Oklahoma as their state, and thanked Krone for the gift.
Krone shared with the children what else the flag stands for, and then presented it. Patterson in turn presented the flag to Library Director Rachel Sides for permanent keeping in the Library's Children's Center for use by all who attend the various programs through out the year.
