[ARCHIVED] Transfer Station Now Open

Power is not restored to all areas but we have a generator set up to run the scales and office. Transfer Station will open at 1:00 pm today to accept limbs and trash.

                                       New Program
Resolution 17-07 was passed by council on April 13, 2017 that establishes a policy for emergency removal of storm debris. The emergency declaration was initiated today by the mayor as outlined in the resolution. The resolution authorizes payment to citizens of Guymon for removal of their trees and vegetation related storm debris at the City of Guymon transfer station located on Road T. Citizens will be paid $40/ton for limbs collected in Guymon. Limbs must be free of trash ans weighed in at the transfer station. When you weigh out, a ticket will be given to you at the window that can be taken to city hall for payment. Proof of residency must be provided by either a driver's license or city utility bill.

This was established as an incentive to get the town cleaned up quicker for a safer and more pleasant place to live. Tree limbs and associated maintenance have always been and still remain the responsibility of the homeowner/renter. What this does is help those that can remove the limbs with some of the cost incurred. It also helps those that can't by giving a value to their problem. Now people can pay a lesser cost to get someone to remove their limbs.

If you are 65 years of age or older, you can request to be put on a list to be given to volunteer groups that want to help out. To be placed  on that list, call City Hall and ask for Marisa.
