Guymon, OK -The City of Guymon is pleased to announce that drilling has officially begun on the Mesa Water Project, marking a significant milestone in the City's ongoing efforts to secure a reliable, long-term water supply for our community.
Drilling operations began at approximately 7:00 a.m. October 13, 2026, and after the first 12 hours of drilling, the project team reported reaching a depth of 278 feet. This initial progress represents an important step forward in the Mesa Water Project, which is designed to develop additional groundwater resources and strengthen Guymon's water supply for the future.
The Mesa Water Project reflects the City's commitment to investing in critical infrastructure, addressing water security, and preparing for the long-term needs of our residents, businesses, and future economic development. The work has begun, and Guymon is moving forward. Every foot drilled represents progress toward building a more secure water future for our community. Additional updates will be provided as drilling progresses and more information becomes available from the project team.
One important point for the technical project updates: The initial 278 feet is a drilling-progress measurement, not yet a confirmation of the well's final production capacity. The key milestones ahead will be total depth, aquifer conditions, well development, and pumping-test results to determine the gallons per minute each well can reliably produce.
