The City of Guymon has officially assumed ownership of the former B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1885 property and has begun improvements to prepare the site for public use. City crews are currently conducting extensive landscaping, cleanup, and general maintenance to restore and enhance the property. These efforts are focused on improving safety, appearance, and overall accessibility for the community.
The City’s intent is to transform the property into a usable public park space for the enjoyment of all residents. Improvements will continue over the coming weeks as staff work to ensure the area is welcoming, functional, and aligned with community needs.
We appreciate the public’s patience as this transition takes place and look forward to providing an additional outdoor space that contributes to the quality of life in Guymon.
To ensure this space is utilized in a way to best serves the community, take our survey and let us know what this space should look like in the future: Elks Lodge Building Survey

City of Guymon Advances Mesa Water Project – Phases 2 and 3 Approved
Guymon, OK — The City of Guymon is pleased to announce that significant progress has been made on the Mesa Water Project. During a special called City Council meeting yesterday evening, Phases 2 and 3 of the project were formally presented and approved.
Council members in attendance, including Mayor Kim Peterson, Vice Mayor Geraldine Sanchez, and Councilman Garrett Helton, unanimously voted in favor of moving forward with the project. The Council authorized the City to proceed with advertising for bids immediately upon receiving regulatory approval from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ).
This action marks a major milestone in the continued development of the Mesa Water Project; a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at securing long-term water sustainability for the Guymon community.
The City also recognizes and appreciates the dedication and expertise of Ardurra Engineering for their hard work in planning and advancing this complex project. In addition, the City extends its gratitude to City Attorney David Petty for his legal guidance and wisdom throughout the development of this initiative.
City Manager Micheal W. Shannon expressed his appreciation for the leadership and commitment shown by the City Council.
“The real heroes of this project are our Mayor and City Council. Their trust and confidence in City staff to develop and advance a project of this magnitude has made this progress possible. This is a testament to their vision and commitment to the future of Guymon.”
The City will move forward with the next steps as soon as ODEQ approval is received, maintaining momentum on a project that is vital to the region’s growth and resilience.
