🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for a Fun and Safe Night

Halloween is two weeks away and we have some tips to help make the holiday safe!

See and Be Seen – Use reflective tape on costumes and carry glow sticks or flashlights.

Costume Safety – Choose flame-resistant materials and make sure costumes fit well to prevent trips and falls.

Walk Safely – Use sidewalks and crosswalks and remind kids to look both ways before crossing streets.

Check Treats – Inspect all candy before eating. Throw away anything unwrapped or suspicious.

Drive Extra Carefully – Slow down and watch for trick-or-treaters, especially in neighborhoods.

Decorate with Care – Keep jack-o’-lanterns and candles away from walkways and flammable materials.

The Potts Family Foundation (PFF) CEO AJ Griffin presented the Ray & Pat Potts Community Leader Award to the deserving Mayor Kim Peterson, of Guymon, OK, at the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy Fall Forum—an event filled with people dedicated to our state's children.
This award is deeply meaningful, named for our late co-founders, Ray and Pat Potts. Pat, who passed away on August 20, 2025, left an incredible legacy of service. As co-founder of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, she always focused on addressing root causes to build the potential of our state, "one child and one organization at a time.”
PFF established this award to recognize a business leader who goes above and beyond for Oklahoma's children. Mayor Peterson is a shining example of that commitment. Thank you for all you do!

🕊️ Honoring Our Littlest Loved Ones

The City of Guymon extends a heartfelt thank you to the Guymon Rotary Club for their generous donation of $2,116.00 to support the purchase of headstone markers for Babyland—the infant gravesite section at Elmhurst Cemetery.

This meaningful contribution was presented to Parks Director Jorge Guzman and Cemetery Sexton Jack Peck and was made possible through proceeds raised during the Rotary’s Bingo Night.

Your generosity ensures that every child laid to rest in Babyland is honored with dignity and remembrance. 💙

🎃Reminder 🎃 The Children's Costume Box is downstairs in the lobby! If you have any used costumes that you would like to donate, please bring them by. Just a note, please do not donate any ripped or stained costumes. We want every child to choose a costume they will feel great in! No Halloween clothing as well, costumes only!

🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE: STOP FLUSHING THE UNFLUSHABLE! 🚨
¡AVISO PÚBLICO: DEJE DE TIRAR LO INDEBIDO AL INODORO!

We had to pull two city pumps — one on Friday and another today.
And you won’t believe what we found… Wipes. Rags. And yes… a pair of shorts. 😳

Folks, toilets are not trash cans! When wipes, clothing, and other unflushables go down the drain, they jam our pumps, cause costly repairs, and can even back up into homes and streets.

💧 Please only flush the 3 P’s: Pee, Poop, and (toilet) Paper. Everything else belongs in the trash — not the pipes! Help us keep the city flowing smoothly and save your tax dollars.

A big Thank You to our hardworking crew who had to deal with this mess. Let’s make sure they don’t have to do it again this week!

🧹 Fall Clean-Up with Heart!

A huge thank you to the Guymon High School Rotary-Interact Club for rolling up their sleeves and helping out during Main Street Guymon’s Fall Clean-Up Day on Saturday, October 11th!

These amazing students—Rachel Hintergardt, Claire Furnish, Yadeline Mesta, Ashley Fernandez, and Miguel Vargas—dedicated their Saturday morning to clearing weeds and cleaning up the old gas station lot across from Equity Bank. 💪🍂

Their work has made a noticeable difference, and we’re grateful for their pride in Guymon and their willingness to serve.

Current Vacancies for City of Guymon Boards and Commissions
This event was a great success, thanks in large part to the outstanding teamwork and communication from both the city and the school. Although Seaboard had originally scheduled setup to begin at 9 am, our team arrived early at 8 am. Wayne and Jorge were willing to open gates ahead of time.

The day was filled with excitement and enthusiasm from all that attended. We had family activities, Alma Dancers, food, and an 18-team soccer tournament. The event ended nearly as scheduled at 9:20 pm, with all facilities cleaned and attendees safely off the premises.

Parking control on the west side was greatly improved by staking off the school-side lot.

Trash containers and portables on the east side were perfectly placed, helping with crowd control and keeping the turf fields clean.

Honestly, I don’t have any suggestions for improvement. Your teams were phenomenal. Seaboard is already discussing making this an annual employee appreciation event.

If there is anything Seaboard can do to help you prepare more easily or reduce stress for future events, please let us know. Also, if you have any feedback on how Seaboard can be a better partner to the city and school, feel free to reach out to one of our company leads or Davida Gomez our Community Enrichment Specialist.

THANK YOU ALL,

Geraldine Sanchez
