Pipeline Regulatory Consultants (PRC) will be performing a pipeline leak survey beginning this week on all City of Guymon owned pipelines only - not residential.
Crews will be in alleys, utility easements, backyards and front yards looking for potential natural gas leaks.
This could take 3-4 weeks to complete and there will be City of Guymon personnel present with PRC during this time.

Critical Situation Everted by Emergency Responders
A very hazardous and potentially critical situation occurred this morning in Goodwell at one of the Town of Goodwell’s water wells.
Texas County 911 center received the call of an odor of chlorine on Aggie Blvd at 9:57am. Goodwell Fire Department and Guymon HazMat Team responded along with Goodwell Police and OPSU Campus Police. First Responders and City Officials knew the only Chlorine in the immediate area was in a well house and approaching to check this location out could be deadly, hence the response of a trained and equipped HazMat Team.
“Remain sheltered in place” order was given to the OPSU campus and to residence within a 1 block radius for approximately 30 minutes. “Residents and College Campus were our high priority to any possible exposure in the event this situation became a major incident”, said Goodwell Fire Chief Drew Smith. Guymon HazMat Team performed evaluations near the building then entered the building with specialized suits and equipment specifically for this dangerous situation. “HazMat Technicians located the issue, mitigated the mechanical issue, and assured no further leak or exposure was present”, said Grant Wadley, Guymon Fire Chief.
No further action was taken, shelter in place was quickly lifted, and no dangerous chemicals were released. The well remained operational and no injuries were reported.
