The City of Guymon is officially relaunching the Adopt-A-Park Program. Originally approved by City Council in 2016, the program was built on a simple idea: the spaces we all use should reflect the pride we have in our community. Over the years, volunteers, civic groups, and businesses stepped in to care for these places, quietly doing the work that made a visible difference. That foundation remains and this relaunch strengthens it.
Guymon has more than 65 acres of parks, trails, and public spaces. These are where families gather, where kids play, where people walk, sit, and take a breath at the end of the day. They are part of daily life here. When they are clean and cared for, it shows. When they are not, it shows just as much.
It is about choosing to take care of something that does not belong to any one person but matters to everyone.
How it works:
Participants adopt a park, trail, or designated area
Commit to at least one year of service
Perform basic upkeep such as litter removal
The City supports efforts by:
Providing trash bags and materials
Installing recognition signage at adopted locations
Coordinating through the Parks Department with participants
Adopt-A-Park is active stewardship of public assets.
Applications are available through City Hall or the City of Guymon website www.guymonok.org

District Attorney’s Child Abuse Advisory Task Force to Host Annual Blue Ribbon Event 💙
GUYMON- April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and local agencies are working together to prevent child abuse, as well as support those who have experienced it. Hosted by the District Attorney’s Child Abuse Advisory Task Force, and in collaboration with Panhandle Services for Children and Northwest Domestic Crisis Services, the Annual Blue Ribbon Event works to bring the community together to prevent child abuse.
This event serves to amplify efforts to educate, support and inspire younger generations. Students from Guymon High School Alternative will be in attendance to assist in tying blue ribbons on the wrists of cutouts that will be placed throughout the area. Matthew Crook, Coordinator at Northwest Domestic Crisis Services, says that this event has taken place for over 20 years and helps educate younger generations on not only noticing signs of child abuse amongst their peers and family, but also reporting it.
Panhandle Services for Children Counselor Jada Breeden explained that their agency serves all three surrounding counties and offers prevention education, as well as counseling for youth 5-19 years of age. “Child Abuse Prevention is addressed through all of our efforts to educate youth and caregivers in the curriculum we facilitate,” Breeden shared.
The Blue Ribbon Event will be held this Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. behind the Texas County Tag Agency and is welcome is everyone in the community. Join us in protecting children and preventing Child Abuse across Guymon.
